What we offer

Each school in NSW offers something slightly different depending on the community. Here's what we offer for you.

Canteen

All canteens in NSW public schools must meet certain requirements. These include providing more healthy food and drink options – to make the healthy choice an easy choice for students. Visit Healthy school canteens to learn more.

Uniforms

When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.

Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:

  • meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation

  • includes items that are affordable, comfortable and made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics

  • is appropriate for the full range of school activities

  • is suitable for all body shapes.

Purchasing uniform

As you were informed at the initial enrolment of your child, all students at Miller Technology High School are expected to wear school uniforms, and in winter it is important for students to have a school jacket or jumper.

We are aware that some families receive no benefits at all and for others receiving benefits, it is often difficult to find the money for expensive items like jackets. For these reasons the Intensive English entre makes special arrangements so students can get appropriate school clothing as soon as possible.

Where parents/guardians are unemployed and receive no government benefits, the Government's Student Assistance Scheme will cover most of the cost of the student's uniform. Please contact the IEC if you are in this position.

Where parents/guardians are employed or the parents/students receive government benefits, the IEC may initially purchase the jacket for a student (after receiving a $10 deposit) and accept repayments of $5 per week for 7 weeks.

Where students are only staying in the IEC for a limited period of time (generally less than one term) and not enrolling in Miller THS after they exit, the IEC will try to lend the student a jacket or jumper. However, this may not always be possible.

Sport faculty practical lesson uniform policy

Due to the nature of Personal development health and safety and its electives, there is a concern regarding issues of safety and hygiene for all of our students. It is for this reason that the PDHPE faculty asks students to change clothes for their practical lessons.

The PDHPE faculty also strongly recommends the use of hats/caps, sunscreen and shorts for participation in lessons especially in the summer months due to the extreme temperatures that students may experience.

Hiring our facilities
